The Gurugram Hit-and-Run investigation has taken a significant turn after police sources indicated that accused driver Kalyan Bainsla allegedly followed a young woman biker for nearly two kilometres before the collision on Golf Course Road last Sunday. Gurugram Police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to establish the exact sequence of events leading up to the crash.
According to information emerging from the investigation, Gurugram Hit-and-Run accused Kalyan was allegedly accompanied by his friend Lavneesh Gurjar, who has also been arrested. Police sources cited by NDTV said the two men were inside the same car when the incident occurred. Investigators are now questioning both accused to determine what happened between the initial confrontation and the eventual collision.
Road-Rage Argument Allegedly Turned Into a Two-Kilometre Pursuit
The investigation suggests that the confrontation began near Gurugram’s Sector 53 Metro Station. According to police sources, Kalyan allegedly lowered the window of the car and spoke to the biker, identified as Shivani Chauhan, popularly known as Siya. A video that has surfaced from the incident appears to show Kalyan speaking towards Siya from inside the vehicle, while she responds.
What initially appeared to be a brief exchange of words allegedly escalated shortly afterwards. Investigators believe the car then followed Siya’s motorcycle for around two kilometres before the crash occurred on Golf Course Road.
Police sources have alleged that Lavneesh Gurjar, who was travelling in the car, encouraged Kalyan to pursue the biker. The allegation is now one of the key aspects being examined by the SIT. Both Kalyan and Lavneesh are being questioned about the circumstances surroundig the pursuit and the events immediately before the collision.
Kalyan and three other friends had reportedly gone to a club in Gurugram before the incident. According to the preliminary account being examined by investigators, they were returning from the outing when the confrontation with Siya took place.
Police have also identified two other people who were reportedly travelling in the car at the time of the crash. Notices have been issued to both individuals, and investigators are expected to record their statements. Their accounts will be compared with the evidence already collected by the SIT, including video footage and statements from the accused.
Siya has alleged that the occupants of the car were under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place. Police have not yet confirmed that allegation.
To establish whether Kalyan had consumed alcohol or any other intoxicating substance, investigators are collecting and examining his blood and urine samples. The results could form an important part of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The authorities are also examining whether the incident was the result of reckless driving, an intentional pursuit, or an escalation following the earlier argument. The SIT is expected to reconstruct the sequence of events using witness accounts, video evidence and forensic material.
The incident took place last Sunday on Gurugram‘s Golf Course Road. A white sedan allegedly collided with Siya’s Aprilia RS 457 sports motorcycle.
The impact reportedly threw the young woman from her motorcycle onto the road. The bike continued to slide forward after the collision, while sparks were seen coming from it. Visuals of the incident subsequently circulated widely, bringing the case to public attention.
The circumstances shown in the available footage are now being examined by investigators as part of the wider Gurugram Hit-and-Run probe. Police are attempting to establish what happened in the moments immediately before the collision and whether the earlier argument had any direct connection with the crash.
The incident came to wider public attention on Monday morning, following which Gurugram Police initiated action and registered an FIR against Kalyan.
The accused driver was traced to Rajasthan and arrested there on Tuesday. His friend Lavneesh Gurjar was subsequently arrested from Rajasthan as well.
With both men now in custody, investigators are focusing on their individual roles and the precise circumstances that led to the collision. The statements of the two other occupants of the vehicle are also expected to help investigators establish whether the accounts provided by those involved are consistent with the available evidence.
The SIT will continue examining CCTV footage, video recordings, witness statements and forensic evidence as it works to reconstruct the events from the initial confrontation near Sector 53 Metro Station to the crash on Golf Course Road.
The investigation remains underway, and several key allegations—including the claim that Kalyan deliberately pursued Siya for nearly two kilometres and that Lavneesh encouraged the pursuit—are yet to be established through the ongoing police investigation.
