The roots of this political drama trace back to the rise of Khalid Anwar, whose political career began not through ideological struggle, educational service, or a popular movement, but by capitalizing on the sacred atmosphere of the “Deen Bachao, Desh Bachao” rally to secure a Legislative Council (MLC) seat. Anwar mercilessly exploited the sincere trust of the late, revered scholar Hazrat Maulana Wali Rahmani, using his stature to bring lakhs of Bihar’s Muslims onto the streets. By turning public sentiment into political leverage for an MLC position, Anwar demonstrated that his goal was neither the protection of religion (Deen) nor the country (Desh), but merely securing access to power while compromising the community’s trust.
Once this position was acquired, figures such as Maulana Abu Talib Rahmani and Maulana Anisur Rahman Qasmi aligned themselves with the same political agenda. Having gained influence within community circles by flattering Maulana Wali Rahmani and obtaining membership inside Imarat-e-Shariah, Maulana Abu Talib Rahmani allegedly sought to hollow out the institution from within rather than serve it. Together, these elements hatched a plot to fracture Imarat-e-Shariah—Bihar’s most credible, autonomous, and historic century-old fortress—crippling its established system and converting it into an instrument for state government influence. However, when the dedicated guardians of Imarat-e-Shariah and conscious community members thwarted their plans, these figures were left humiliated and frustrated.
Misusing Maulana Azad’s Name for Political Gain
Following their failure at Imarat-e-Shariah, these schemers immediately pivoted, opening a new political front under the sacred name of freedom fighter Rais-ul-Ahrar Hazrat Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Maulana Abu Talib Rahmani emerged as the self-appointed leader of this new venture, whose underlying objective is to divide Muslim unity, sow discord, and shore up the declining vote bank of their political patrons.
Pushing deception to new lengths, Maulana Abu Talib Rahmani publicly claimed before the press and public that the state government had allotted land in Patna under the name of Maulana Azad. The conscious public of Bihar is now confronting these self-styled leaders with direct questions:
