GRP Recovery brought major relief to a passenger and his family after railway police at Howrah Station traced and recovered a trolley bag containing gold ornaments and other valuables that had been accidentally left behind on the platform while the family was rushing to board a train for Ranchi.
The GRP Recovery operation was carried out promptly after the passenger realised, shortly after boarding the Up Kriya Yog Express, that the valuable bag had been left at the station. The bag reportedly contained gold ornaments weighing around 40 grams, along with several other valuable belongings.
Howrah GRP team launches immediate search
According to information available, passenger Asif Alam had arrived at Howrah Station with his family on Saturday night to catch the Up Kriya Yog Express for Ranchi. In the rush to board the train, the family inadvertently left behind a trolley bag containing the jewellery and other valuables on the platform.
The mistake came to light only after the train had departed. The family reportedly realised within a short time that the bag was missing and that it had most likely been left at the station. The situation caused considerable anxiety, particularly because of the gold ornaments inside the bag.
After receiving information about the missing belongings, the Howrah Government Railway Police (GRP) immediately began efforts to locate the bag. The search operation was conducted by the night-duty team led by ASI Gopal Jana and his colleagues.
The railway police eventually traced the unattended bag on the station premises and took it into their custody. The contents were subsequently checked as part of the process of establishing ownership.
Following proper verification and examination of the relevant details provided by the passenger, the GRP officials handed the recovered bag back to Asif Alam, its rightful owner.
The recovery came as a major relief to Alam and his family, who expressed their gratitude to the railway police for acting swiftly after being informed about the missing belongings.
The incident has also highlighted the importance of prompt action by railway security personnel in dealing with passengers’ lost and misplaced valuables. The family’s belongings, including the gold ornaments, were safely returned after the ownership verification process was completed.
