The searches reportedly took place on Friday at four locations associated with Pandey in Patna, Gopalganj and Rohtas, including her residence and office. During the operation, officials are said to have recovered ₹1.85 lakh in cash, documents relating to fixed deposits worth ₹8.5 lakh, and papers concerning various investments.

Investigators also reportedly seized gold and silver jewellery valued at approximately ₹32 lakh. The recovery of these assets, along with the bank accounts and property records, forms part of the ongoing inquiry into the alleged accumulation of wealth beyond the officer’s known sources of income.

According to vigilance sources cited in media reports, the assets identified so far are estimated to be around 135 per cent above her known income. Investigators are examining the origin of the funds and the manner in which the properties and financial investments were acquired. The allegations remain subject to investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings.

Officer Joined Government Service in 2010

Reports state that Pandey entered government service in 2010 after clearing the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination. The SVU’s searches are intended to establish the extent of the assets under scrutiny and determine whether they can be accounted for through legitimate sources of income.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details may emerge as officials examine financial records, property documents and other evidence collected during the searches.

Separate Vigilance Action Against Government Engineer

The latest case follows another vigilance operation in Bihar on Thursday, when officials reportedly searched the residence of government engineer Narad Kumar Das in connection with a separate disproportionate-assets case. Police subsequently arrested Das, according to the report.

During that search, investigators allegedly found bundles of ₹500 currency notes arranged beneath a bed. The incident has drawn attention to recent vigilance action against public servants suspected of possessing assets disproportionate to their known income.

The two cases are separate investigations. The allegations against the individuals concerned will have to be assessed on the basis of evidence gathered by the investigating agencies and the outcome of the legal process.
