A devastating road accident along National Highway 30 in Chhattisgarh claimed the life of 24-year-old Mumbai motorcyclist and digital creator Riddhi Thakkar early Wednesday morning. A resident of Kandivali West, Mumbai, Riddhi was part of a 23-member riding contingent traveling toward Bastar when a heavy commercial truck struck her Bajaj Avenger motorcycle from behind near the Markatola Ghat section in Dhamtari district.
The fatal accident took place between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM as the group navigated the high-speed corridor approximately 100 kilometers away from Raipur, where they had initially regrouped before heading into Bastar. Impacted by the high-speed collision, Riddhi was thrown onto the highway and sustained fatal critical injuries. Emergency first responders initially rushed her to a nearby primary health center, but given the severity of her trauma, attending medical staff advised an urgent transfer to the Shriram Hospital in Dhamtari. Upon arrival, physicians declared her brought dead.
Police Launch Investigation as Hit-and-Run Driver Flees Scene
Local authorities confirmed that the truck driver fled the scene immediately following the impact, prompting the Dhamtari district police to launch an active investigation to trace the vehicle and identify the perpetrator. Senior police official Bhanupratap Chandrakar verified that a case of unnatural death has been registered, and investigators are actively scanning surrounding closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage along National Highway 30 while recording detailed statements from Riddhi’s fellow riders.
Dhamtari Municipal Corporation Mayor visited the incident area shortly after learning of the tragic news, assuring full administrative support to the victim’s grieving family. The police have formally notified her family in Mumbai and forwarded the body for mandatory post-mortem examinations before handing over custody to her relatives.
