Delhi CJP Protest: Railways Cancels Trains, Metro Restrictions Announced
Delhi CJP Protest: Indian Railways has cancelled several Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations between 4 am and 2 pm on Saturday, October 10, citing the possibility of severe traffic congestion and security arrangements ahead of a planned demonstration in the national capital. Metro restrictions have also been announced, potentially affecting commuters across several parts of Delhi.

The Delhi CJP Protest has prompted heightened security preparations following a call by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) for a demonstration at Jantar Mantar. The protesters are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The proposed demonstration has led to transport-related precautions, police restrictions and additional security arrangements in central Delhi.
According to the Ministry of Railways, intelligence inputs and traffic advisories indicated the possibility of severe road congestion around New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations on October 10. The cancellations have been announced as a precautionary measure to reduce passenger inconvenience.

Metro Services to Face Restrictions at 57 Stations

Railway disruption is not the only concern for commuters. According to the reported advisory, entry and exit facilities at 57 Delhi Metro stations are scheduled to face restrictions from 9 pm on Friday, October 9, amid concerns about crowd movement towards sensitive locations.
The stations mentioned in the advisory include Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, New Delhi, Patel Chowk, Janpath, Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, ITO, Delhi Gate, Khan Market, Lok Kalyan Marg, Udyog Bhawan, Kashmere Gate, Hauz Khas, INA and Lajpat Nagar.
The reported restrictions could affect commuters using important interchange stations and routes serving central Delhi. Metro services passing through affected areas may also operate under revised arrangements, depending on instructions issued by the authorities.
Passengers should consult the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s latest official announcements to confirm which stations are affected, the duration of restrictions and any changes to train operations.
Delhi Police Denies Permission for CJP Demonstration
The proposed protest has triggered additional police measures. According to reports, Delhi Police has denied permission for the demonstration, citing the absence of the mandatory 10-day advance intimation and alleged violations of guidelines during an earlier protest.
Authorities have also imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in parts of central Delhi. Police have warned that violations of the applicable orders could lead to legal action.
The demonstration is centred on demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls. These allegations represent the protesters’ claims and should not be interpreted as established findings.
More Than 23,000 Security Personnel Reportedly Deployed

Extensive security arrangements are being prepared across the national capital. According to reports, approximately 23,000 personnel from Central Armed Police Forces and other security units are being mobilised in connection with the planned demonstration.
The reported deployment includes 221 CAPF companies approved by the Union Home Ministry for October 8–12, alongside an additional 110 companies provided to Delhi Police.
The forces identified in the reports include the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Multi-layered barricading and CCTV surveillance are also expected to form part of the security arrangements. Face Recognition System cameras are reportedly being installed at selected locations to assist monitoring.
Neighbouring states, including Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, have reportedly been asked to remain alert during the period.
Passengers Advised to Check Travel Updates
The combination of train cancellations, possible metro restrictions and extensive security arrangements could disrupt travel across Delhi on October 10. Passengers travelling to railway stations, airports and other destinations should allow additional time for their journeys and monitor official traffic advisories.
Rail passengers should check train status, cancellation notices and refund eligibility through official Indian Railways channels. Metro commuters should verify the latest information issued by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation before starting their journeys.
The situation may change as authorities assess security and traffic conditions. Travellers are therefore advised to rely on verified announcements from Indian Railways, Eastern Railway, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Delhi Police.
