Land Acquisition Policy has now become the centerpiece of West Bengal’s renewed push toward industrial development. Signaling a major shift in the state’s economic direction, West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya announced that the government led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is working on a completely new and industry-friendly land acquisition framework aimed at creating a more investment-oriented climate across the state.

Speaking at an event organized by the Bharat Chamber of Commerce, Bhattacharya said the present administration is determined to remove long-standing obstacles that had discouraged industrial expansion in Bengal for years. According to him, the government’s primary objective is to establish a stable, transparent, and investor-friendly environment capable of attracting both domestic and international industries.
During his address, Bhattacharya strongly criticized the industrial policies followed by previous Left Front and Trinamool Congress governments. Referring to the Singur controversy, he claimed that several major investors had once shown deep interest in building large-scale industrial projects in Bengal, but lack of governmental support and political resistance eventually drove them away. He argued that those policy failures resulted in the closure of multiple factories across the state, leaving thousands of young people unemployed.
In the middle of his speech, Bhattacharya once again emphasized that the proposed Land Acquisition Policy would be designed in a way that balances industrial growth with the interests of landowners and local communities. He assured industrial representatives that the current government is committed to rebuilding investor confidence and transforming Bengal into one of India’s leading manufacturing and business destinations.
The BJP state president also clarified that while he does not hold direct administrative authority to implement government decisions personally, he continues to play an active advisory role within the party regarding industrial planning and policy formation. He stated that the party leadership is continuously working with the government to create a practical roadmap for sustainable industrialization in the state.
Political observers believe that since forming the government after the Assembly elections, the BJP administration has been aggressively trying to reverse Bengal’s prolonged investment slowdown. In that context, the announcement regarding a new land acquisition structure is being viewed as a major signal to the business community that the state is now ready for large-scale industrial expansion.
Experts from industry circles feel that if implemented effectively, the new policy could open the doors for infrastructure projects, manufacturing hubs, logistics parks, and employment generation across multiple districts of West Bengal.
