Fresh arrests, digital surveillance, and scrutiny of social media activity as police widen their investigation into the Turkman Gate violence.

Turkman Gate remained under tight security as Delhi Police intensified action in the stone-pelting incident that shook the area earlier this month. With the arrest of three more individuals late Friday night, the total number of accused taken into custody has now risen to 16. Senior police officials confirmed that the investigation is progressing on multiple fronts and further arrests are not being ruled out.

According to the Additional Commissioner of Police (Central), Nidhin Valsan, the latest arrests were made following sustained overnight operations. Those arrested include men of varying ages, ranging from 20 to 55 years, allegedly involved in the violence near Turkman Gate. Police sources said teams are still tracking additional suspects and verifying their roles through video footage and witness accounts.

To prevent any escalation, authorities have deployed heavy police and paramilitary forces across sensitive pockets of the area. Senior officers are personally monitoring security arrangements, particularly around Friday prayers. Drone surveillance and round-the-clock CCTV monitoring have been activated, with officials stating that the situation is currently peaceful and fully under control.

The probe has also expanded into the digital space. Investigators have identified 10 social media influencers accused of spreading misleading or unverified information related to the incident. One influencer, Aimen Rizvi, was reportedly summoned for questioning but has not yet joined the investigation. Rizvi, in a statement to PTI, denied receiving any official notice and clarified that she had merely shared information about an incident near a mosque without urging people to gather or protest.

Calling herself a social worker, Rizvi publicly condemned the stone-pelting and said she would cooperate fully if formally contacted by the police. Meanwhile, summons are still pending for another influencer, Salman, whose online messages are currently under examination.

In addition, police are reviewing statements made by a Samajwadi Party Member of Parliament in connection with the incident. Officials indicated that his remarks are under scrutiny and a formal notice may be issued if required.

The ongoing investigation continues to focus on identifying those directly involved in the violence, tracing digital evidence, and curbing the spread of misinformation linked to the Turkman Gate episode.
