In an elegant and understated ceremony far from the public eye, two prominent figures of Indian politics—Mahua Moitra of the Trinamool Congress and Pinaki Misra of the Biju Janata Dal—were recently united in matrimony. The wedding took place on May 3 in the historic city of Berlin, Germany.

While no formal announcement was made by either party at the time, Moitra took to social media on Thursday to offer a glimpse into the celebrations. Sharing a heartwarming photograph of herself and her husband cutting a wedding cake, she penned a brief but heartfelt note:
“Thank you everyone for the love and good wishes!! So grateful.”

The image, which has since been widely circulated, features Moitra in traditional bridal attire adorned with ornate gold jewellery, hinting at a private yet culturally rooted affair.

Mahua Moitra, born in Assam on October 12, 1974, began her professional life as an investment banker before venturing into politics with the Trinamool Congress in 2010. Her electoral debut came in 2019, when she was elected to the Lok Sabha from West Bengal’s Krishnanagar constituency. Her re-election in 2024 reaffirmed her growing stature within the party. Known for her eloquence and sharp political critique, Moitra has drawn national attention—particularly for her powerful speech in Parliament outlining the “seven signs of fascism,” which resonated across party lines.

Pinaki Misra, born on October 23, 1959, in Puri, Odisha, is a seasoned parliamentarian and an accomplished legal mind. A graduate in History from St. Stephen’s College and a law degree holder from the University of Delhi, Misra first entered the Lok Sabha in 1996 on a Congress ticket. He later aligned with Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal, successfully returning to Parliament multiple times, representing Puri with distinction in 2009, 2014, and 2019.

While their union may have been quiet and devoid of political fanfare, it brings together two articulate voices from different corners of India’s political landscape. The Qalam Times News Network extends warm wishes to the newlywed couple for a life filled with companionship, mutual respect, and shared purpose.
