Operation Sindoor took center stage on Saturday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a rousing public address in his constituency of Varanasi, declared that India’s retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack had been completed successfully—with the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Operation Sindoor

Opening his speech in the heart of Kashi, PM Modi said, “My heart grieved for the 26 lives lost in the brutal Pahalgam attack. I had made a promise—to avenge the sindoor of our daughters—and today, with Mahadev’s blessings, that vow stands fulfilled.”

He reiterated that Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the massacre in Jammu and Kashmir, symbolized the collective resolve of 140 crore Indians. “This wasn’t just a military operation; it was the united strength of the nation in action,” Modi declared, invoking Mahadev as the spiritual force behind the mission.

Operation Sindoor: India Strikes Back

The operation was India’s retaliatory answer to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, where 26 civilians were killed by terrorists from The Resistance Front (TRF), a Lashkar-e-Taiba-linked group. In a swift and coordinated strike, Indian forces targeted nine terror bases across Pakistan and PoK. This triggered a brief three-day military confrontation, including drone and missile exchanges between the two countries.

PM Modi pointedly remarked that the operation’s success seemed to “pain some people,” taking an open dig at the Congress and its allies. “They cannot digest India’s strength,” he said.

Operation Mahadev: Surgical Precision on Ground

The Prime Minister also praised the execution of Operation Mahadev, where Indian forces neutralized three Pakistani terrorists on July 28 in the Lidwas forest near Harwan, Srinagar. Union Home Minister Amit Shah later confirmed in Parliament that these operatives—Suleiman, Afghan, and Jibran—were top Lashkar commanders directly linked to the Pahalgam killings.

Massive Development Push in Varanasi

Alongside the fiery national security message, PM Modi unveiled 52 development projects in Varanasi worth over ₹2,183 crore. These span critical areas such as infrastructure, education, health, sanitation, and tourism.

Highlights include:

  • New roads and road widening works
  • Hospital upgrades and establishment of a homoeopathic college
  • Renovation of ponds and ghats to boost religious tourism
  • Expansion of power and parking facilities
  • Construction of animal hospitals, libraries, and dog care centers

Support for Farmers and Differently-Abled Citizens

In a massive nationwide rollout, Modi also released the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi—transferring ₹20,500 crore directly to over 9.70 crore farmers.

Further, during a ceremony in Banauli village (Sevapuri block), he distributed assistive devices—including wheelchairs, tricycles, and visual aids—to differently-abled and senior citizens.

Hum Kaashi ke har parivar-jan ke pranaam karat hai,” said the Prime Minister in the local dialect, earning thunderous applause from the crowd.

A Visit Laden with Symbolism and Strategy

This marks PM Modi’s 51st visit to Varanasi and comes during the holy month of Shravan, just ahead of Rakshabandhan—cementing both emotional and strategic connections in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, his deputies Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, BJP’s state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, and other key leaders were present at the event.

With Operation Sindoor, the Modi government has once again blended military action with symbolic cultural messaging. Dedicating the operation’s success to Lord Shiva, invoking national unity, and launching sweeping development plans in Kashi—all form a calculated narrative of strength, spirituality, and growth.

The message was clear: India responds with precision, governs with purpose, and leads with conviction.
