Yadav Questions Income Tax Department’s Intent
Independent MP Pappu Yadav has accused the department of targeting him for his humanitarian work in Bihar’s flood-hit regions. According to Yadav, the department issued a notice questioning his decision to distribute cash assistance to flood victims in Vaishali district.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Yadav wrote, “I have received an income tax notice; it has labeled distributing money to help flood victims as a crime. If this is a crime, then I will always continue to commit the crime of helping every deprived victim.”

The MP stated that he had provided financial aid to families in Maniyari village under Nayagaon East Panchayat, whose homes and belongings were swept away by the Ganges. “If I hadn’t helped them, would I have stayed silent like the Home State Minister or the local MP, who call themselves CM candidates?” he asked.
Political Undercurrents Behind the Dispute
The Income Tax notice comes days after Yadav publicly invited Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to join the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), alleging that the BJP was “stabbing him from behind.” Speaking to ANI, Yadav said, “We have always respected Nitish Kumar, but the BJP is finishing him politically. That’s why I invited him to our side.”
However, Yadav also voiced dissatisfaction over the Mahagathbandhan’s campaign materials, questioning why only Tejashwi Yadav’s photo appeared on election posters. “Voting will happen on Rahul Gandhi’s image, not anyone else’s. All three leaders’ pictures should have been there. This sends the wrong message,” he said.
RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari responded sharply, claiming, “In Bihar, there is only Tejashwi. People have already accepted him as their Chief Minister.”
Election Landscape in Bihar
The Mahagathbandhan alliance consists of RJD, Congress, CPI(ML), CPI, CPM, and VIP. On the other hand, the NDA includes BJP, JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM(S), and RLM. Polling in Bihar is scheduled for November 6 and 11, with results to be announced on November 14.
As the controversy around the Income Tax notice unfolds, Yadav’s confrontation with the establishment has once again placed him at the heart of Bihar’s volatile political narrative.
