Harmony and Strength Define Patel’s Legacy

Harmony was the central theme of President Droupadi Murmu’s message to the nation on the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. Greeting citizens on the occasion, President Murmu called upon everyone to pledge themselves to the creation of a “strong, harmonious, and excellent India.”

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the President described Sardar Patel as a great patriot, visionary leader, and nation-builder who unified the country through his unwavering determination and courageous leadership.

Harmony as the Spirit of National Unity Day

Emphasizing the timeless value of harmony, President Murmu said Patel’s life continues to inspire every Indian to work towards collective unity and progress.

“His dedication and spirit of national service serve as an inspiration to us all. On this National Unity Day, let us come together in harmony and resolve to build a stronger and more excellent India,” she said.

Born in Nadiad, Gujarat, in 1875, Sardar Patel played a pivotal role in India’s struggle for Independence and later led the historic task of integrating more than 560 princely states into a single nation — a feat unmatched in modern history.

President Murmu paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel at Sardar Patel Chowk and later at Gantantra Mandap in Rashtrapati Bhavan. The event marked Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, celebrated across the nation as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena, and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also joined in paying homage at Sardar Patel Chowk, reaffirming Patel’s enduring legacy as the architect of India’s unity and harmony.

National Unity Day: A Reminder of Patel’s Vision

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas serves as a national reminder of Sardar Patel’s vision — to unite India’s diverse communities under one flag and one Constitution. His remarkable statesmanship, integrity, and belief in harmony continue to guide India’s journey toward inclusivity and strength.

“On the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, I extend my heartfelt best wishes to all my fellow citizens,” President Murmu said, reaffirming Patel’s message of courage, service, and unity.
