Gaurav Gogoi accuses Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma of acting like a KING and ignoring people’s concerns

KING — that was the sharp word Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi used while attacking Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Gogoi alleged that the CM behaves “like a king” who takes pride in his power and treats ordinary citizens with disdain.

Drawing a pointed contrast, Gogoi said that while Himanta Biswa Sarma projects himself as a ruler above the people, late Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi never distanced himself from the public. “Tarun Gogoi served as CM for 15 years but never thought of himself as all-powerful. He always worked with humility and service,” he stressed, underlining that leadership should not be about acting like a KING but about connecting with the masses.

Gaurav Gogoi further charged that the BJP leadership in Assam considers itself “upper class,” treating the people as second-class citizens. He asserted that the Congress party, in contrast, stands with the people regardless of political power or privilege. “Even if we are treated as second-class, we will remain with the people,” he added.

The remarks come at a time when political friction between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress in Assam is intensifying, setting the stage for upcoming electoral battles.
