Disqualified Teachers List Grows

The Disqualified list of teachers released by the School Service Commission (SSC) has been expanded once again. Following the Supreme Court’s directive, SSC initially published a list of 1,804 names on Saturday. By midnight, however, the number rose to 1,806 after the inclusion of two additional teachers — Roshenara Begum and Sanchita Das.

Supreme Court’s Deadline

The top court had given SSC a strict seven-day deadline to publish the names of disqualified candidates. Complying with that order, the Commission uploaded the list on its official website within the stipulated time. While the initial figure stood at 1,804, the late-night update pushed the total to 1,806, intensifying the debate over the recruitment process.

Teachers Plan Legal Challenge

On the other side, those marked as disqualified are preparing to challenge the move in court. Many claim SSC rushed to publish the list to shield itself from criticism. “On what basis did SSC brand us as ineligible? Even the Supreme Court has not fully defined who is qualified and who isn’t. What is the legitimacy of this list?” questioned Kamalesh Kapat, one of the affected teachers. According to him and several others, a petition challenging the list will be filed on Monday.

Exams Ahead, Uncertainty Grows

The controversy comes at a crucial time, as SSC’s recruitment examinations are scheduled for September 7 and 14. The Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma has already ruled that disqualified candidates cannot appear for the exams. The publication of the extended list, therefore, has not only raised legal disputes but also heightened tension among thousands of aspirants.
