For the first time a new report by the Canadian government has acknowledged that Khalistani extremists and other terrorist groups are receiving financial support in the country. The report titled “Assessment of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Risk in Canada 2025” reveals that Khalistani terrorist organizations such as Babbar Khalsa International, International Sikh Youth Federation and Sikhs for Justice are raising funds for politically motivated violent activities from Canada itself.
The report states that these groups are raising money for the purpose of carrying out violent activities for the formation of an independent Khalistan state in Punjab. For this, these organizations are using means like charity, NPOs (Non-Profit Organizations), drug trafficking, vehicle theft, cryptocurrency and misuse of the banking sector.
The report also mentions that earlier these organizations had a large and organized funding network in Canada, but now they have split into small, unorganized groups. Despite this, they continue to spread politically motivated violence and terror.
According to the Financial Reporting and Analysis Center of Canada and intelligence agencies, international terrorist organizations like Hezbollah and Hamas have also been receiving financial assistance from Canada. Pro-Khalistan elements are also raising funds from legal and illegal sources in the same way.
The report states that this funding not only promotes terrorism but is also a serious threat to international security. India has long been raising the issue that pro-Khalistan extremists are getting shelter in Canada and their financial sources are not being monitored.
This report has made it clear that Khalistani extremists are carrying out political and violent activities in Punjab by taking financial help from Canada and this is a matter of concern for international law and security.
