The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has called for a statewide Bihar Bandh on September 4. The bandh is being organised to protest against derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother. BJP’s Bihar state president Dilip Jaiswal said the five-hour bandh will be from 7 am to 12 noon.
Jaiswal said, “Rahul Gandhi has brought ‘shame’ to the soil of Bihar when he allowed a person to hurl abuses at PM Modi and his late mother from the stage of the Matdata Adhikar Yatra.” He further said the party is observing the bandh as a protest.
Jaiswal also praised Prime Minister Modi’s efforts for the development of Bihar and said that on Tuesday PM Modi provided financial assistance to the mothers and daughters of the state. He said that around 20 mothers and sisters were present with PM Modi on the occasion when he distributed financial aid for the state.
He said that the decision to observe bandh on September 4 was taken after a meeting of women committees of all five NDA constituents. Women committees of NDA allies felt deeply hurt by the behaviour of Congress-RJD leaders.
Protest against offensive language
JDU state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha said that using abusive language against Prime Minister Modi and his late mother from a public platform is against democratic values. He said, “There may be differences in political ideologies, but it does not mean that someone’s family should be dragged into controversy.”
Kushwaha said that abusive language was used against PM Modi and his mother during the opposition’s Darbhanga rally. He also said that “the use of this type of language is completely inappropriate and till now the leaders of the Mahagathbandhan have not apologized for this. This shows their arrogance. They have insulted our mothers and sisters, and now we will respond. That is why the NDA has called for a Bihar bandh, and women organizations will protest across Bihar.”
LJP (RV) state president Raju Tiwari said that insulting women has been a tradition of the Congress-RJD and the Darbhanga incident is a direct example of this. RLM’s Madan Chaudhary and JDU Mahila Samiti president Bharti Mehta were also present at the press conference. Bharti Mehta said, “It is even more shocking that abusive words were uttered against the late mother of the PM from the land of Mithilaanchal, where women have always been given importance in every field. This is even more insulting and will not be tolerated.”
Jibe from PM Modi
Meanwhile, PM Modi on Tuesday indirectly took a dig at Congress and INDIA Block leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav. He said these are ‘naamdaar’ people, who are born in royal families and cannot understand the hardships of poor mothers or the pain and suffering of their children. “The power of the country and Bihar is like a family heirloom to them,” he said.
“The penance of a poor mother, the struggle of her son – these young princes do not understand this. These ‘naamdaar’ people are born with a silver spoon. For them, power seems like a family heirloom,” he said.
